Despite a brisk, wintry start to the day, the Westville Old Boys Golf Day at Kloof Country Club on Friday 23rd August proved to be a resounding success, bringing together golf enthusiasts for a day of fun, laughter, and philanthropy. The event, which took place on the picturesque course of Kloof Country Club, not only offered an excellent opportunity for golfers to showcase their skills but also aimed to support the Westville Old Boys Society.

The Chill of Winter Meets the Warmth of Community Spirit

The morning air was crisp as participants arrived at Kloof Country Club, the frosty weather setting the scene for a classic winter golf day. However, the chilly start was quickly offset by the spirited presence of our Smiths’ Cotswold Downs Team, who brought an undeniable ray of sunshine to the putting green. Their enthusiasm and dedication to the cause created an inviting atmosphere that warmed the hearts of all involved.

The Cotswold Team Takes the Green

Sally Blackman, Bayley Holley, and Liz Landsberg, collectively known as the Cotswold Downs Trio, took center stage in this charity event. Their mission was to put the golfers’ putting skills to the test in a bid to raise funds for the Westville Old Boys Society. With their engaging challenges and friendly competition, the trio made sure the day was filled with excitement and camaraderie.

The Cotswold Team’s presence was not just about testing putting skills; it was also about fostering a sense of community. Their creative challenges and interactive activities encouraged participants to engage more deeply with the event, all while enjoying the beautiful setting of Kloof Country Club.

Fun, Food, and Fundraising

The day was characterized by more than just competitive golf. The Kloof Country Club course provided an ideal backdrop for a day filled with laughter, great snacks, and refreshing drinks. Golfers had the opportunity to take a break from their rounds and indulge in a variety of delicious treats and beverages, all while socializing and sharing stories of their on-course exploits.

The fast greens of Kloof Country Club presented a unique challenge for participants, pushing them to hone their putting skills. The light-hearted atmosphere ensured that the golfers enjoyed themselves while refining their technique, turning every putt into a moment of enjoyment rather than just competition.

Contributing to a Worthy Cause

The Westville Old Boys Golf Day was not only about golf; it was about giving back to the community. The event successfully raised funds for the Westville Old Boys Society, supporting their ongoing initiatives and projects. The generous contributions made by participants and sponsors will go a long way in supporting the Society’s efforts and making a positive impact.

The support from local businesses and individuals was instrumental in making the day a success. By participating in the event and supporting the Cotswold Team’s challenges, golfers and attendees alike contributed to a cause that benefits the wider community.
